The stamp design features a black-and-white portrait of Buckley created by artist DaleStephanos. Using graphite and charcoal on hot-press watercolor paper, Stephanos created theartwork by hand before refining the details digitally. He based the portrait on a photograph takenby Steve Schapiro in the 1960s. Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamp.
